Good News Outreach partners with local higher education institutions as a provider of field work for students studying for a BSW, MSW or LCSW. Once accepted, interns spend time working alongside employees in our Mercy House re-entry program, our Better Angels senior program and our Maryland Oaks Crossing affordable housing program. Throughout their semester they interact with GNO clients digitally and face to face, helping connect them with community resources. Interns gain an understanding of the documentation and reporting expectations present throughout one’s career as a social worker while also developing office management skills. Regular meetings with supervisors to discuss goals and outcomes rounds out the student’s hand-on educational experience with GNO.
