When is the food pantry open?

Our weekly food pantry is open on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month from 8 AM to noon. 

Who is eligible for the Elder Services program? What services are provided?

Our elder services program is open to seniors 60 years or older, living independently or in a retirement community. We provide food delivery, light housekeeping, companionship services, and utility assistance on a case-by-case basis. 

What are the qualifications for Maryland Oaks Crossing?

To qualify for housing at Maryland Oaks Crossing, your income level must be $1,200.00 or $1,500.00 a month for a two or three-bedroom house respectively. You must have remained eviction free for at least 3 years. You must not have any sexual or majorly violent charges on your record. Maryland Oaks Crossing is a family community particularly for men with children, women with children, or married couples with children. 

What if I do not have children? What if I am currently pregnant?

We have a limited amount of units set aside for the elderly, however with the income requirements, subsidized housing might be a better choice for those without children. Our housing director can provide you with a list of all subsidized housing here in Leon County. Those who do not have children, but are currently pregnant will still qualify for housing with proof of pregnancy.

What do I do if I am coming out of homelessness and meet the required income for Maryland Oaks Crossing, but do not currently have the funds?

Our housing director works with many agencies that may help you with the first months' rent, deposit, and get your power turned on. They will be able to give you a referral if you qualify. 

Do you allow pets at Maryland Oaks Crossing?

We allow service or support pets with a doctor's order and an additional $200.00 pet deposit. 

Do I need to be a Christian to qualify for Maryland Oaks Crossing?

No, at Good News Outreach we are a Christian based organization to love and serve all.

Is there an application fee for Maryland Oaks Crossing?

No, however we do require all residents over the age of 18 to obtain a local Leon County Sheriff's background check at the cost of $5.00 each.

What schools are Maryland Oaks Crossing zoned for?

The residents of Maryland Oaks Crossing are zoned for Sabel Palm Elementary School, Griffin Middle School, and Rickards High School.  

What is the process to becoming a resident at Mercy House?

Contact staff at Good News Outreach by phone, email, or letter and provide name and DC# of prospective resident. Mercy House staff will then send an application packet to the prospective resident to complete and return to Good News Outreach. Mercy House staff will then provide further instructions.

When should the men begin the application process to Mercy House?

It is best for men to begin the application process several months in advance of their release from incarceration.

How long are residents permitted to stay at Mercy House?

Six to nine months, however, there is no minimum amount of time that a resident is expected to stay.

What are the requirements to becoming a resident at Mercy House?

Mercy House accepts all men recently released from incarceration except for sex offenders.
