Our re-entry program presents Christian love and support to men recently released from prison. We help them transition back into a wary society.
The recently released have a mountain to climb.
Often discarded by family and former friends, these men face immediate challenges and temptations. They are released with the clothes on their back and $100 in their pocket, which quickly evaporates if only to pay for the first week’s food and rent.
Contrasting with Florida’s recidivism rate of over 50%, the Mercy House program results in a recidivism rate of less than 10%.
Our Ongoing Needs
We need good people…average people...not necessarily those who are experts in social work or teaching the Bible, nor those who are skilled in counseling. Just people wanting to do good and willing to help another person understand there’s a better way to conduct his life. Our clients need to see there are rewards for success.
We need employers willing to work with Good News Outreach to show our men that honest work is available, and that a significant part of our population is willing to welcome them back into the community, in return for their dedication to the same goal.
